Nickel 200 Foil Composition and Properties: Selection and RFQ Guide
- Nickel 200 Foil

Nickel 200 foil composition and property guide. Nickel 200 is UNS N02200. ASTM B162 covers rolled Nickel 200 plate, sheet and strip. A foil purchase should name the grade, applicable edition, ordered form, thickness, condition and inspection evidence. A nominal value is useful for screening but is not a lot-specific acceptance result.
What the material designation establishes
The UNS designation distinguishes Nickel 200 from low-carbon Nickel 201 (UNS N02201). The ASTM product specification defines chemistry and mechanical acceptance for the covered forms. Do not describe Nickel 200 as a universal high-temperature or corrosion solution; exposure temperature, atmosphere, chemistry and fabrication history must be considered separately.
Reading a material certificate
| Certificate item | Buyer check |
|---|---|
| Grade and specification | UNS N02200 and the contracted ASTM B162 edition. |
| Heat or lot | Identity traceable to the delivered foil. |
| Chemistry | Reported results against the applicable limits. |
| Mechanical results | Required tests for the ordered condition and product form. |
| Dimensions | Separate receipt inspection for thickness, width and edge quality. |
Physical-property tables from catalogs may use different temperatures and material conditions. Preserve those conditions when comparing values. When the end use depends on conductivity, use the conductivity guide and define an agreed measurement basis.
For grade choice see the Nickel 200 versus Nickel 201 comparison; for the purchasing framework see the nickel foil hub. Review the foil category and send a technical RFQ. Source: ASTM B162 scope.
Frequently asked questions
Is a catalog value a certificate result?
No. Confirm the value, test basis and supplied-lot certificate required by the contract.
Are Nickel 200 and Nickel 201 the same grade?
No. They have different UNS designations and must be identified separately on the order and certificate.
