UNS R60705 Zirconium Wire for Chemical Equipment: RFQ Guide

UNS R60705 Zirconium Wire

UNS R60705 zirconium wire for chemical equipment. The wire can be considered for a controlled component only when material grade, wire geometry, fabrication and the plant’s service envelope are defined together. A supplier quotation should separate raw-wire conformity from the equipment designer’s corrosion and pressure assessment.

Translate the component drawing into an order

ASTM B550/B550M covers zirconium and zirconium alloy bar and wire. Specify UNS R60705 where required, the edition, diameter and tolerance, coil or straight length, condition, surface and lot certificate. State whether the wire will become a mesh, weld consumable, spring-like component or another geometry; each route creates different process questions.

Coordinate material and process controls

  1. Define the operating chemistry, concentration, temperature, pressure and cleaning cycle.
  2. Identify joining, forming and heat exposure that may change the supplied condition.
  3. Agree dimensional, surface and material tests at receipt.
  4. Qualify the finished component under the governing equipment design and inspection requirements.

The wire’s product standard does not authorize a pressure vessel or guarantee corrosion-free service. Where failure has serious consequences, obtain a qualified compatibility assessment and representative tests for the actual geometry and media.

For the corrosion mechanism and exposure checklist see the zirconium wire corrosion guide; for supplier requirements see the zirconium alloy supplier guide. Review the wire category and send a technical RFQ. Source: ASTM B550/B550M scope.

Frequently asked questions

Does UNS R60705 wire alone qualify chemical equipment?

No. Component fabrication, service conditions and applicable equipment requirements need separate validation.

Which wire details belong in the RFQ?

State grade, standard edition, diameter, tolerance, condition, surface, documentation and intended process.
