Zr702 Zirconium Foil Supplier: Certificates and Documentation
- Zr702 Zirconium Foil

When selecting a Zr702 zirconium foil supplier, check both the supplier’s quality system and the material documents required for the specific order. A management-system certificate and a material test certificate answer different questions; neither alone qualifies a finished component for every application.
Material requirements and certificates
Zr702 is commonly identified as unalloyed zirconium, UNS R60702. ASTM B551/B551M covers zirconium and zirconium alloy strip, sheet and plate, including R60702. Agree the applicable edition, foil dimensions, condition and acceptance requirements. Confirm whether the ordered thickness and form are covered by that edition.
Specify the required certificate type, test results and traceability in the purchase order. If EN 10204 type 3.1 or another inspection document is required, agree its use and contents with the supplier and check them against the contracted requirements. The required chemical, mechanical, dimensional and supplementary inspection results depend on the order; do not assume that every certificate includes every possible test.
Quality system and supplier scope
Review the certificate holder, issuing body, validity and certified scope for any requested quality management system, such as ISO 9001. A system certificate concerns the organization’s management system within its stated scope; it does not itself prove that a particular foil lot meets ASTM B551/B551M or a finished product requirement. The applicable certification edition and transition status should be verified with the issuing body.
Match documents to the shipment
| Check | Evidence to review |
|---|---|
| Order | Grade, specification and edition, dimensions, condition and required tests. |
| Identification | Lot or heat identity on the certificate and shipment, as agreed. |
| Results | Required inspection results and acceptance against the agreed requirements. |
| Additional controls | Any project-specific process, personnel or third-party qualification. |
For aerospace, medical or nuclear projects, determine the applicable customer, material and component requirements individually. Do not assume that ASTM B551 establishes nuclear qualification, that ISO 13485 certifies a particular material lot, or that one certificate automatically meets every project’s special-process requirements.
Frequently asked questions
Does ISO 9001 certify each foil lot?
No. Review the material certificate and agreed acceptance evidence for the supplied lot separately.
Are all orders required to include the same inspection results?
No. Agree the relevant tests and document package before production or shipment.
