Why Is Nickel 201 Foil a Reliable Material for Corrosive and High-Temperature Environments?

Nickel 201 Foil

Nickel 201 foil in corrosion and elevated-temperature service. Nickel 201 / UNS N02201 is the low-carbon nickel grade covered by ASTM B162 for rolled plate, sheet and strip. It may be evaluated for a particular process, but neither corrosion life nor temperature capability is guaranteed by the grade name alone.

Separate material from operating conditions

Define process chemistry, oxidizing or reducing conditions, temperature range, exposure duration, contaminants and cleaning cycles. Consider welds, crevices, coatings and any heat treatment after supply. A generic table of annealed and cold-rolled strength values does not replace the contracted material edition or lot-specific certificate.

Control thin-foil delivery

Specify thickness and tolerance, width, length or coil, condition, surface, edge and packing. Confirm that the requested foil form is covered by the agreed ASTM B162 edition or by a supplementary purchase specification. Request heat/lot traceability and chemical and mechanical results as required by the order.

The previous article’s annual-capacity figure was not linked to a current factory record and is not repeated. Compare Nickel 201 properties and the Nickel 200/201 grade guide, then submit a technical RFQ. Source: ASTM B162 scope.

Frequently asked questions

Does Nickel 201 guarantee high-temperature corrosion resistance?

No. The actual medium, atmosphere, temperature, time and finished component must be assessed.

Is a published capacity figure a delivery commitment?

No. Obtain a current written confirmation for the ordered size and quantity.
