Grade 4 titanium foil selection. Grade 4 (UNS R50700) is an unalloyed titanium grade. Foil or thin strip should be evaluated through its contracted product-form standard, thickness, condition, surface, forming route and service environment. Material behavior cannot be inferred from grade alone.
Scope and evidence
ASTM B265 covers titanium and titanium alloy strip, sheet and plate, including Grade 4. Confirm that the ordered foil geometry is addressed by the contract’s edition and purchase specification. Specify thickness and tolerance, width, length or coil, condition, edge quality, flatness and packaging. Request a certificate traceable to the supplied heat or lot and any supplementary tests the drawing requires.
What properties need separate verification?

Choosing between Grade 4 and another grade
Grade 4 may be considered when the project requires a higher-strength commercially pure titanium option. The grade must still be checked against the required forming operation, thickness, joining method and corrosion exposure. A stronger nominal grade is not automatically the best solution for a thin, heavily formed component.
